چکیده

Metabolic changes during kidney and liver disease can induce increased production of oxygen radicals that play an important role in the progression damage appearance comorbidities. In study reported here, effect alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) on chemiluminescence (CL) TBARS determination microsomes isolated from rat was analyzed. Oxidative stress induced by subjecting samples (1 mg protein) to ascorbate-Fe++-dependent (0.4 mM)-Fe++ (2.15 μM) prooxidant system at 37 °C for 120 min. quantified two methods, CL: CL determined using a Packard 1900 TR liquid scintillation counter (Meriden CT, USA). expressed as cpm (counts per minute) read every 10 minutes establish course peroxidation function time. Likewise, total value (sum readings) used compare inhibitory ALA different concentrations corresponding 0.05; 0.15 0.25 μg microsomal protein. Controls were run simultaneously without addition ascorbate-Fe++. It observed lower obtained group than control (without ALA). addition, -ALA found be concentration-dependent (0.05, solution) reduced CL, measured cpm. After it done lipid products (Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances—TBARS). samples. Lipoperoxidation inhibition depended concentration incubation mixture. The results show all tested, protective oxidative found. level analyzes indicate may act antioxidant protecting lipoperoxidative damage.

Prevention of chromate induced oxidative stress by alpha-lipoic acid.

The parenteral administration of alpha-lipoic acid (LA) protected against chromate induced oxidative stress in mouse liver. A shift in Cr induced pro-oxidant state to antioxidant-state by LA was noteworthy. The degree of protection was significant and similar in different LA administration regimens (prior-, co- and post- parenteral Cr exposure) explored. An improved status of the tissue antioxi...

Effect of Bioflavonoid Quercetin on Endotoxin-Induced Hepatotoxicity and Oxidative Stress in Rat Liver

Septicaemia caused by gram-negative pathogens is a dangerous infection which is associated with high incidence of liver dysfunction. The severe and acute hepatotoxicity is presumably due to massive release of endotoxin into systemic circulation after bacterial killing. The direct toxic effect of endotoxin is probably due to the increased production of reactive oxygen intermediates as O 2 - , p...

The protective effect of rosemary in mitigating oxidative stress induced by Chlorpyrifos in rat kidney

Introduction: Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphorus insecticide that can produce reactive oxygen species, and oxidative stress in the kidney. On the other hand, rosemary extract is an antioxidant playing a protective role against free radicals. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the oxidative stress in rat kidney due to the exposure to chlorpyrifos and to assess the antioxidant effe...

Effects of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract on Oxidative Stress Induced by Diabetes in Rat Kidney

Background: This study examined the effect of grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) on lipid peroxidation content and activity of tissue antioxidant enzymes, including catalase, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in diabetic rats. Methods: Thirty male rats were divided into three groups of 10 rats each: control, diabetic and diabetic groups that received 500 mg/kg GSPE for 6 w...

Antioxidant Effect of Ardeh and Honey Combination on Ethanol-induced Oxidative stress in Liver and Kidney of Rats

Background: The pathogenesis of ethanol in the liver and kidney is associated with an increase in free radicals and oxidative stress that leads to structural and functional abnormalities in these vital organs. Methods: Forty-eight male wistar rats were placed in eight groups and were treated as follows: control group (normal saline), group of ethanol (4 g/ kg), three doses of Ardeh and honey co...
